The Goose Bay Reclamation Corporation filed permits with the DEC earlier this year requesting authorization to treat part of Goose Bay with a herbicide to reduce and control Eurasian Milfoil in the bay. The DEC required a flow test and weed mapping be completed prior to submitting the permits for evaluation. Upon completion of these studies and submission of permits the GBRC received authorization to complete the herbicide application in late May 2015 on approximately forty acres of the bay. The application took place on June 6, 2015.
Please click on tabs under Saving the Bay (Flow Study & Weed Mapping, Herbicide Application, and Testing) to learn more about this project. We will complete another weed mapping study in early August to determine the effectiveness of this application. Provided it is effective, the group plans to submit permits for additional applications in the future. Future treatments will depend available funding. Please consider joining and supporting our group in this effort.
